Why perfection increases anxiety, making it the number one enemy of a simple and satisfying life

I am by nature an anxious person. I come from a long line of worriers, and we tend to blow things out of proportion and then freak out because we cannot handle it. Yeah I know, and I am human-enough to admit it. I feel sorry for my husband, and try to hide it from my kids as I do not want to intentionally pass this on to them. I also have insignificant things that bother me, so badly that I cannot really function or pay attention to anything else until it has been fixed. For example, the volume of the radio or television need to be at specific intervals. You cannot have the volume on 11 or 9, it needs to be on 8 or 12 or 15. I don’t care if you cannot hear or if it is too loud, that is where it needs to be. Open cupboard doors. Just close them! Want me off the rails? Have a door bang, or a tap drip, or a window repeatedly creak. You will drive me nuts. I will not label myself as having an anxiety disorder, merely out of fear that the general public will associate people with a few quirks like mine with a severe mental disorder. Yes I do have mild anxiety, but there are people out there who desperately need your help and support, and they need the actual attention.

I was diagnosed with arthritis about 6 months ago. My preliminary tests indicated Rheumatoid, but my rheumatologist was not entirely convinced. Do the medical community not understand that inflammation is caused by something that irritates the immune system, and that SOMETHING can be anything from physical activity to food allergens.

A1 never gave us even a slight worry that she might have asthma. No niggling cough or wheezing chest. With A2 this was another story. She got chest infections easily. Her coughing never stopped, most days getting so bad that she would vomit. Her chest was graggy and made a faint wheeze when she breathed. She had her first proper attack just shy of 18months. Shortly after another. And another.  We ended up in ER with her with blood oxygen levels of 72 where it is supposed to be 95. After this episode, her paediatrician "diagnosed" her. I say "diagnosed" because before the age of 5 any medical opinion is given solely on the grounds of observation and medical history. After 5, or as soon as the child can follow more complex instructions, a breathing test can be done for a formal diagnosis.
