Shownotes: How to treat inflammation in your body - do this now!

Your body was beautifully and wonderfully made with the ability to defend itself against most internal and external attacks. When your body senses something is wrong, i.e. that it is under attack, then inflammation is the body’s response to counter these attacks.

Simplify your exercise routine [simple is better, after all]

Your journey to fitness can be a simple stroll, it doesn’t have to be a sprint unless you want it to be. That is the whole point – to not lose sight of yourself. To not get caught up in this process to such an extent that it takes over your life. The point of exercising, other than working on your idea of the perfect physique, is to clear your head and enjoy the rush of dopamine and endorphins. Anti-depressants at their best. If you focus and fixate on the bells and whistles you forget that you are doing this for your own best will. Not to make the brands piles of cash.

Give Dad his own custom-made essential oils perfume - zero waste, minimal, natural and simple

Father’s day is coming up fast, and of course I want to spoil Husband on this special day. Although I don’t really love these types of days (you know, Mother’s, Valentine’s, etc.) I do love the fact that we have kids who get so enthusiastic about these “celebrations” and so now I just roll with it. If you think about it, Father’s day gives you another very good reason to expose the people you love to more natural ways of living and giving. And on that note – here is a great idea for a Father’s day gift:

Homemade natural perfume for Dad, using manly essential oils.

Zero waste shopping: How to keep your plastic-usage low, even without access to a bulk store. Simple and small changes matter

One of the biggest challenges you will ever face on your zero waste journey is shopping. Unfortunately, the world has not yet caught on to this “trend” and most stores still package EVERYTHING in layers and layers of plastic. Or, if you are lucky enough to find a bulk store the chances are very good that they will stock some, if not almost all, of the usual basics but the moment you are in need of something more specific or “special”, back to square one – plastic.

Self-acceptance is to simplify your idea of yourself

Self-acceptance is much more than self-confidence or self-esteem. It stretches further than body positivity, so far that it touches on the divine. Because only when we truly accept ourselves, the good, the bad and the ugly, are we freeing ourselves to become what we were born to be. Only then can we grow into the divine creatures we were envisioned to become.

Minimise toxins: Natural treatments for muscle pain, inflammation, joint stiffness and swelling

Since my arthritis diagnosis I have tried a few different things, some with big success. Other with not so much. The natural treatment that works the best? Essential oils. But before I go into the different oils and their uses, let’s first take a look at muscle pain and body soreness in general.

Going zero waste is not going to save the planet

I have been on this zero waste journey for a while now, and although I have had a few major setbacks, I have managed to overcome most of the challenges. We waste less, although not even close to zero. And when we do have waste, we are more conscious of it and try to dispose of it in the most responsible way. That being said, I will never pat myself on the back that I am saving the planet, one plastic-less day at a time. I am not naïve, and I can see the damage that has already been done and that we are continuingly doing.  And unfortunately merely going zero waste will not solve the problem.

Self-care for Moms - yes you also need it, you deserve it, and you can make time for it. Here is how

Parenting is tough, especially when you really really really want to be a good parent. Focusing on your kids while focusing on your career, your partner, your finances, your responsibilities, and all of those myriads of other things we inevitably end up having to deal with, can leave you drained and depleted. What most parents, and moms in general, forget to focus on is themselves. There never seems to be enough time or space or money or whatever the excuse is to take care of themselves.

My favourite zero waste bloggers {South Africa}

Although Zero Waste is not a new concept, it is yet to take off in South Africa. We have a few ambassadors, and people who have taken to the movement like a fish in plastic-filled water. But there is room for a lot of improvement. We are trying to make our own mark, and to live our best life and in such a way lead by example. But that is not possible without a bit of inspiration and motivation, and for that I like to follow like-minded individuals. So I read other people’s blogs and posts and follow them in their daily lives. If you would like to do the same, here is my list of the best zero waste bloggers in South Africa

How to become a minimalist in 10 easy steps

Anybody can become a minimalist. It is not about the amount of things you own - you can be a minimalist if you have more than 4 forks and 2 sheets.
